Madras High Court allows late Dr Karunanidhi to rest in peace at Marina beach
The Madras High Court finally ruled that M Karunanidhi will be laid to rest on Marina beach. Since Karunanidhi's death on Tuesday at around 6.30 pm at the Kauvery Hospital, there had been uproar in the social and political circles over the issue of his burial.

Although the case was heard late on Tuesday night, the court was not satisfied with the arguments on the government's ban. The body of Karunanidhi had been kept for the people to pay their last respects at the Rajaji Hall in Chennai.

A tribute to Karunanidhi was given in the Delhi Legislative Assembly. The last journey of Karunanidhi started on Wednesday and he was buried next to his mentor CN Annadurai on the Marina beach with full state honours.

Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah, NCP President Sharad Pawar and party leader Praful Patel gave DMK chief M Karunanidhi a rich tribute at the Rajaji Hall. The Supreme Court refused to hear Ramaswamy's plea to put a hold on the funeral of Karunanidhi at the Marina Beach.

Congress President Rahul Gandhi , Talangana Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao, Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and former deputy chief minister of Bihar, Tejashwi Yadav also reached Chennai to pay their last tributes to the south Indian veteran politician and writer.

For the last glimpse of M Karunanidhi, a huge crowd of supporters had gathered outside Rajaji Hall. Two people, including a woman, died in a stampede outside the hall while dozens were injured.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that she been very sad since yesterday, as the state government did not allow M Karunanidhi's burial at the Marina beach. She said that for this, she had even called the Chief Minister in this regard. She also claimed of having spoken privately to PM Modi over the issue.

PM Narendra Modi spoke to Karunanidhi's son MK Stalin and daughter Kanimozhi after the last rites.

After the court's decision, the counsel of the DMK had said that the High Court had accepted their case and ordered that the funeral of M Karunanidhi will be held at the Marina Beach.

After High Court's decision, the DMK supporters at Rajaji Hall started celebrating happiness; however, Karunanidhi's son MK Stalin started crying bitterly.
