Mahajan demands re-polling in Citizens Cooperative Bank elections
Rajiv Mahajan along with other candidates who contested the recently-held elections for the post of directors of the Citizens Cooperative Bank Ltd., Jammu, expressed their dismay over the outcome of the results in which their whole panel and other independents were declared as defeated.

MAHAJAN DESCRIBED the result as totally unfair and demanded re-polling at Akhnoor, R S Pura and Vijaypur polling stations where, he claimed mass rigging took place with the active support of some politicians and the polling staff.

Mahajan alleged that mass rigging took place at Akhnoor, R S Pura and Vijaypur wherefrom unprecedented polling was reported in favour of one particular panel resulting in their win, and setback to other contestants.

Mahajan said that they had reports of mass rigging at Akhnoor, R S Pura and Vijaypur polling booths where the votes of even dead persons were cast in favour of the rival panel. Mahajan said that they lodged a written complaint to the returning officer before counting of votes regarding unfair means at Akhnoor, R S Pura and Vijaypur polling booths, but no heed was paid to our request and counting started.

Giving the extent of unfair means at the above mentioned polling booths, Mahajan said at R S Pura booth 578 votes were polled in just 7 hours, which can't be justified. He said: “To cast a vote it took minimum 2 minutes and to cast 578 votes it should have taken at least 19 hours, while as, the prescribed period of polling was from 9.30 AM to 4.30 PM (7 hours), which gives no justification of polling 578 votes in just 7 or say 8 hours in one ballot box.”

Mahajan said that their panel is quite dissatisfied with the election result and demanded re-polling in all the three above mentioned polling stations in the supervision of honest polling staff.

Mahajan further said that they have no tug with Dinesh Gupta and his panel. He said their fight was against some cabinet ministers, one sitting MP, one ex MP and many sitting MLAs who openly campaigned in favour of Dinesh Gupta panel and were instrumental in openly rigging the elections in his favour. He said that 'our panel was not actually defeated but managed to defeat by some cabinet ministers, an ex MP and some sitting MLAs who are working as mafia and in a planned nexus have looted the bank to the tune of crores of rupees. Mahajan appealed to the chief minister to order a high level inquiry through a judicial commission in the whole loot of the bank.

Mahajan said that he could not understand the reasons behind the keen interest shown by some cabinet ministers and MLAs in the bank affairs who devoted their substantial time and resources at their command for campaigning for a particular group of candidates and managed large scale rigging in their favour to ensure the victory of Dinesh Gupta’s whole panel.

Mahajan lamented that these so called loyalists of the bank who are the public representatives in state Assembly hardly devoted even their two hours time to address or raise the public issues for which they have been elected by the public. He said that bungling in bank is of grave nature and needs to be probed comprehensively. However, Mahajan has expressed his gratitude to the voters for their benign support. He said that their team got tremendous support from the voters, but they were defeated by some self interested persons who have a deep rooted nexus with the looters of the bank.
