THE SUPER storm has killed 18 people in New York City, among a total of 23 people in New York state and six people in New Jersy. There are several other states in the US also that have reported deaths due to the storm. Hurricane Sandy has left some 8 million homes and businesses without electricity as power lines have been hit by falling trees due to Sandy's fierce winds.
Sandy was the biggest storm to hit the country in generations. The flood water lifted the cars from the usual parking place and piled them on deserted highways. President Barrack Obama and New Jersey's Governor Chris Christie will be visiting New Jersey on Wednesday.
Hurricane Sandy, accompanied with high speed winds and torrential rains, has caused billions of dollars worth of loss. Quoting a disaster modeling company, Reuters said that the losses could be to the tune of $15 billion USD.
