Making Gujarat the best city to live in India
After another thumping win in Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi has been re-elected for the third consecutive time as the state's Chief Minister, and has begun his fourth stint at the helm. The country and the people of Gujarat have seen the exceptional growth and development that has taken place in the state. As people of Gujarat take pride in what the state has achieved, it is with this objective that many Gujaratis have made suggestions to Shri Modi on how the state can prosper even more, and become the best city in the country to live and work.

REACTIONS ON expectations and views of Gujarati citizens as Shri Narendra Modi begins his fourth tenure as Chief Minister. Given below are views and suggestions followed by the details of the person who has given the feedback.

"Narendra Modiji is performing better than any other Chief Minister, however, I still have lots of expectations from him. We are experiencing a better law and order situation under his regime. Modi has a totally different working style from other leaders. He is a favorite leader of today's youth. I want him to look for those people, who might not have been benefited earlier.

Five years back I was almost unemployed. My income was limited but now I am earning well, and I am economically stable. I come to work here at Relief Road. There was a time when we could not come in here in broad day light but now we are safe here. I am sure that if Narendra Modi is given a chance to rule at the Centre, then he can take some strict action against those nations who try to destabilize India. He has increased his stature in the BJP. He should be given an opportunity to become the country's next Prime Minister."

"Roads within city can be further improved. I would request for some stringent traffic rules and improved traffic system to be in place. Trained Traffic police is much required. Dams and reservoirs should be cleaned periodically to facilitate more storage of water. Gujarat being a state with low rainfall, if the capacity of these reservoirs is increased with proper maintenance and cleaning, the water scarcity during Summer days can be handled in a better way.

“First of all I'd like to congratulate the people of Gujarat to rightfully re-elect Shri Narendra Modi as the leader for Gujarat. Though Gujarat has progressed dynamically in all aspects, yet there are a few dark spots, which need cleaning up. Along with industrial and infrastructural development, little more attention is required in the rural sectors of Gujarat, where some of the basic requirements like drainage and water pipe lines are yet to be completed.

Whatever effort has been given for industrial and infrastructural development in the last 12 years, it is good enough to last in the long-term. In the next five years, if attention is given towards rural Gujarat, then definitely growth shall be even in all aspects.

I would also request the Chief Minister to focus on speeding up the justice delivery in lower courts. Though fast track courts have been introduced and Judges are working extra hours to deliver justice, yet there seems to be some loopholes due to which the expected speed is not achieved. Similarly, there are some loopholes in the government machinery due to which the officers still have some laid back attitude towards the common man, and are not much helpful even though there have been several civic centers put up for ease of work for various registration processes. Even though these things have been centralized and inter-connected, yet these civic centers are unable to help out the common man in to get various registrations done. Their performance can improve if they visit civic centres of their wards more often.”

“Narendra Modi has worked better than the expectations of the common man during his last ten years of rule. I am employed with a private power company is Gujarat, and I can say that his guidance has encouraged us to give our best performance. We have better power supply in Gujarat than Delhi. Our villages get 24-hour three phase power supply. He has developed villages on par with cities. Our villages have every facility such as roads, water, and Internet, and so there is no exodus of people from villages to urban areas. Thus, there is no pressure on cities.

For the sake of farmers, he has built small ponds to store water for irrigation as the height of the Narmada dam can't be increased. Gujarat is accused of improper rehabilitation of those who have been displaced because of the dam. But the reality is different. The 108 ambulance service started by Narendra Modi is doing a wonderful job.

He is not against Muslims, he is against those who are involved in anti-national activities irrespective of religion and caste. He is not a fundamentalist Hindu but the prejudiced English media has portrayed him so. If he is providing a facility in a village, then it is for all - not just for Hindus and Gujaratis.

Gujarat does not produce too many administrators out of various civil services competitions due to weakness in English language. Basic education is good but he can do something in this aspect.

Modi should also prepare a good second cadre. Second cadre means - when Modi will move to Delhi, of which I am very much sure, and we will be at a loss. We do not want him to go there, but we cannot stop someone's development. He should  prepare such a powerful second cadre in the state, that it will fill the vacuum in his absence.

- Ajit Mokashi is employed at a private power company in Baroda.

"Mr. Modi is working towards infrastructure development in the state. But he can do better in aspects such as education, and health. He continues to focus on GDP. He can also bring his attention to over-all development like the Human Development Index (HDI).

I assess his past rule as an average one. The law and order situation in the state is good. The state government employees can be better paid. Like when you join the government service you get some Rs. 3,500 per month for the first five years. This is a drawback here, and it can be changed.
