Mamata-didi does not like DD - wants her own TV channel
Mamata Banerjee, the Chief Minister of West Bengal has already issued a diktat on watching TV..

IN HER opinion, only a few TV channels have a positive attitude towards her and her government. She has even indicated which TV channels she has in mind – both the ‘naughty ones’ as well her ‘pet ones’.

Moreover, she has gone on to advise people that they should watch entertainment channels instead of news channels.

And – her latest idea is to have a dedicated channel which would be totally in her control – and which would show the true news without any frills or exaggerations. They must project news in the way she wants them to be projected.

Actually – all the regional DD (Doordarshan) channels are supposed to be doing just that – these are the official government channels and Banerjee should have trusted them. She can dictate her terms to them and they are bound to follow her instructions. It is run by government employees and any deviation can be punished.

Anyways – Mamata Banerjee is probably not able to repose any faith in their abilities or methods of working and wants a separate TV channel which would be run by her own staff.

And not only a dedicated TV channel but a dedicated newspaper is also in her scheme of things. Who knows – her loyal supporters might decide to issue a diktat to local cable TV operators to block the offensive channels.
