As Mamata Banerjee accused Congress of being 'jealous' of her developmental works in the state, the rift between the two parties has come out in the open. While the TMC has cautioned that it doesn't rely on Congress' support in the state, UPA II could lose an important ally at the Centre.
MAMATA BANERJEE is trying new arm-twisting tactics to build more pressure over its ally, Congress Party. More such tactics are on anvil but obviously, they will build a greater threat to relations between the two parties. Now Mamata is behaving like an ordinary housewife who loves to keep nagging her husband, knowing full well that the husband has his limitations.
The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has said that the Congress is jealous of its success in the state and hence has embarked on a smear campaign to demoralize it but, the whole
world is aware of the fact that before getting elected to power in west Bengal, the TMC had made innumerable promises which have not been fulfilled till date. Yes, only eight months have passed by but the indications of a better way of life in the state are not there.
This has left the electorate disappointed. The slogan of change of the TMC is apparently a hollow one and is becoming more and more meaningless with every passing day.
In Singur, TMC had promised that it will return the land, acquired by the left-front for the Nano project, to farmers. Immediately after TMC took over office, an impression had been given that the return was just a matter of time. However, it has not yet materialized.
The people have become disenchanted at the way TMC government is functioning – the TMC had rooted for a change, what has changed are the faces at the top – not the method of functioning or the attitude.
