Man bags job by walking 10 miles
Jhaqueil Reagan, a 18-year-old man, never knew that his asking directions would actually land him a job. Reagan approached Art Bouvier to ask for directions for a job interview and got to know that he was still seven miles away from his destination. It was snowing in New York and so Bouvier advised the young man to take a bus to which he just said, 'Okay, thank you' and continued on his way.
Some time later when Bouvier, who is the owner of a Cajun restaurant, went off to get some coffee, he saw tReagan again trudging along in the slush and snow on his foot. Offering him a lift, when Bouvier asked him as to why he did not take the bus, Reagan said, “I can’t afford the bus until I get a job."
"I’m thinking to myself, here’s a kid walking almost 10 miles in the ice and slush and snow for the hope of a job at minimum wage. That’s the kind of story your parents used to tell, my parents used to tell,” Bouvier told The Telegraph.
Dropping the young man at his destination, Bouvier took the young man's phone number and posted the entire story on Facebook, which was shared 4,000 times. In the evening, Reagan got a call from the kind stranger, who dropped him off at work and was offered a job at his restaurant.
The story is very positive, especially for Americans, many of whom depend on government funding to support themselves. This particular story shows the perseverance of a young man who had to find a job in order to support his two siblings. Talking about his experience, he said, “I’m really lucky I met him...He told me about it and I was just so surprised. I was awestruck. My heart’s just racing right now. I’m just too excited, just excited to start.”
