The bizzare and ruthless incident came to light after the victim, Sitabai, 35, was rushed to the hospital following a suicide attempt. The police have recovered two sets of locks and keys besides a needle from Chouhan - reportedly used to drill the holes.
To the shock of the nurses at the hospital, the lock could only be opened only after the husband's arrest.
Displaying an utter distrust in her wife, chouhan would lock her genitals and slip the keys into his sock before leaving for work. Married for 19 years, the couple have five children and Sitabai has also alleged that Chouhan used to misbehave with the eldest daughter.
The police have booked Sohanlal for cruelty and voluntarily hurting another person. But one wonders whether a sensible person can stoop so low to do such a beastly thing. There is every likelihood that the man in question needs some psychiatric treatment. Whatever the case, the man should be punished harshly for his inhuman act.
