Man kills sons and self over illicit relationship

A man committed a heinous crime by killing his own sons and then hanging himself. Relatives of the devastated wife say that he was in a illicit relationship and this might be the reason for his erratic behaviour.

DUE TO an illicit relation, a man in Sarna village in Pathankot killed his five and seven-year-old sons and then committed suicide by hanging himself. It looks like a case of frustration but the police are yet to ascertain the main reason behind it.

The deceased Sohan Lal was married to Naresh Kumari with whom he had two sons. He was a burger vendor and had illicit relations with a lady named Pooja who belonged to Uttar Pradesh. As informed by Naresh's relatives the deceased even had a child with her and because of this he would often beat his sons and wife and would torture them.

According to the victim's sister, he often used to threaten Kumari that he would kill their children. Though the hapless wife did file a complaint against this, no step was taken by the police. After the incident Vimla Devi, Kumari's sister told the press, “He (Lal) had an illegitimate relationship with Pooja and had a child with her. He often used to say that he would kill their children because now he has a child with Pooja. We thought it was their personal matter so we did not interfere. We told her to file a complaint against him. She lodged a complaint but police did not do anything.”

Kumari's brother said that he tried a lot to solve the problem but the deceased was not ready to listen to him and continued his relations with Pooja. Vishabar Das said, “He used to stay at Pooja's place day and night. I tried to make him understand and even slapped him once but he did not listen to me. My sister used to tell me he used to threaten her that he would kill her.”

Allegedly the deceased gave drugged cold drink to his sons that ended their lives. The police is investigating the matter. PS Virk, DSP confirmed about the crimes of the deceased but he also added that they are yet to figure out the reason for his actions.
