Manchester City or Liverpool: Who will walk to Wembley?
The second leg of the Carling Cup semi-finals between Liverpool and Manchester City would take place later tonight at Anfield. Liverpool has a lead of 1-0 from the first leg. The winner would take on Cardiff in the finals at Wembley.

WHEN TWO EPL teams, Liverpool and Manchester City, walk together before the game at Anfield, they would have a smile on their faces. But there would only be one team who will end up with smiles, when the final whistle is blown. It is do or die for both the teams, as they are playing for a place in finals of the Carling Cup, where Cardiff would be waiting after they won Crystal Palace in the other semi-finals, reported ESPN. Liverpool has the upper hand as they play the second leg of the semi-finals, after taking a 1-0 lead in the first leg.

Though, Liverpool has not been in the best of form in the domestic circuit but they have played well in other tournaments like FA Cup. They have been playing their best games against teams from the top flight of the domestic season. Hence, there is a reason for the Manchester City players to be afraid of the reds. Liverpool does not possess a good record recently, where they have not managed to defeat teams such as Stoke and Bolton. On the other hand, Manchester City has looked good in their recent games. So, a great game is in store for neutral fans, where quality football will not be an issue.

With players such as Aguero, Dzeko, Silva and Milner, Manchester City has all the firepower that is needed to win the match. Their offensive line would definitely test the Liverpool defenders, who have shown that they are one of the best in the business. Manchester need to exploit the wing back positions of Liverpool, as they do not look great defensively. Players such as Dzeko, and Aguero, if they play together, have a strong understanding to create a constant threat.

Liverpool has not been able to find the back of the net consistently. Their attack, comprising of Carroll, Bellamy, Adam, Downing, and Gerrard’s quality have never been in doubt but their performance lacks quality in the final third of the pitch. Carroll has been given enough time to prove himself, so he needs to deliver in such kind of matches in which his previous performance would be let off. Bellamy could be the most important player for Liverpool, who has the speed to run at defenders, and play from the wings to deliver pin point crosses to Carroll. Gerrard, as usual, would be a huge inspiration in the field, with his commitment during the game.

Both the teams would field in their best players, so as to bring favourable result for their team. Still, the match would miss the quality services of Vincent Kompany and Luis Suarez for their ban. Balotelli will also be banned if Manchester does not appeal against his ban, and Spearing would also miss the important game due to an injury, reported BBC.
