Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's residence in Rohtak was raided by a team of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday in connection with an alleged scam involving land in Manesar.

The CBI team arrived at the former Congress chief minister's residence this morning to conduct  searches regarding the allotment of 400 acres of land in Manesar, which is said to be allegedly acquired by Hooda at dirt-cheap rates from the villagers. Hooda, then allegedly sold the lands to private builders.

The raids took place in 20 locations across Delhi, Chandigarh, Rohtak and Gurugram. The CBI has also reportedly searched the homes and offices of a top bureaucrat, SS Dhillon, and two former officers ML Tayal and Chattar Singh.

The investigation is reportedly ordered by ML Khattar, the present chief minister of Haryana, who is leading the BJP government in the after Hooda's defeat. Hooda headed the Congress government in Haryana for 10 years till 2014.

Apart from the alleged Manesar land scam, the ex-Haryana chief minister is also been indicted for his alleged role in facilitating illegal land deals in a report by a former judge who studied controversial transactions in Haryana including one involving Robert Vadra, son-in-law of the Congress president, Sonia Gandhi.
