Maniac drivers causing havoc on the roads
Is this a new method of eve-teasing? Or is it just public harrassment?
WHAT CAN one say about the mentality of some Indian men! I am not talking in terms of creating panic by teasing any girls or creating panic in the jam packed buses where they try to do all notorious things.

I have recently observed, a new way of creating panic by men and that is when you are trying to cross the roads. I have been a victim to this ruthless way of having fun...well definitely the men may have had a good laugh but ifor me it was so scary that my heart was in my mouth.

I stay in an area in Chennai near the Bangalore-Chennai highway. In order to go to the market we have to cross the spacious, wide roads of the highway. It was a Saturday afternoon and I had to go to the ATM counter to draw money. I am a really timid person, and take great care while crossing the road. I do not mind waiting till the entire road is a little free of traffic and even don’t dare to cross the road if any heavy vehicles are approaching.

That particular day, I saw towards my right and found that there was a motor bike and a esteem car at a far distance. I was pretty much sure that the speed with which the driver was driving wouldn’t be of any peril for me and so I decided to cross the road As soon as I stepped on to the road, the car came straight towards me as though it intended to ram into me.

For that second I thought I would be dead. My duppatta flew and I felt the heavy gush of the speeding car. I realized with a jerk that I was unharmed and when I looked towards the car, I saw its driver waving his hand out of the window! What an idiot! I was bustling with anger and if given a chance would have beaten up the man black and blue. After all what was my fault?

Well, this is the kind of maniacs that our society is filled up with. People love troubling others, people love creating panic. Never do they think of putting themselves in others’ shoes and the youth today, call themselves "modern" and "forward" etc.

If they are successful in causing distress, even though people are literate academically, what is missing is "moral education".
I was lucky enough and was safe. But this kind of useless and dastardly actions might have cost somebody their life.

There is a saying which goes like this: SOFT AND KIND WORDS SPOKEN TO ANYONE IS A PRAYER OFFERED TO GOD. Nice behaviour is what is the need of the hour expected by many of us.
There are some people in some countries who are very good in overall behaviour. Perhaps, the potential of such people, shuld be tapped for the good - it is like this: Though our constitution aims at a normal acceptable behaviour by every citizen in this country, with the growth in population and competition all around, behaviour pattern of average citizen needs reformation; therefore, people of those countries who are commanding great behaviour pattern should be encouraged to set up outfits in as many places as possible with the idea of teaching and preaching the goodness of the best behaviour patterns. Japan, is one of the countries, where behaviour pattern of its individuals are simply the best. Like Japan, there are many more countries. Even in India, there are people who speak "sugar and honey" and have excellent body language and behaviour. Debate should take place on how to make every citizen more cultured with better manners, etiquette and positive attitude. Thanks, Vijay
