Manmohan Singh's resignation report mere speculation: PMO Sources
Prime Minister Manomohan Singh may announce his resignation from the post in a press conference on January 3, as reported by English daily Telegraph. However, the sources with in the PMO, as referred by the various news channels, have declined such reports as mere speculations.

The Telegraph report says that the Congress may appoint Rahul Gandhi after Manmohan Singh's resignation. The resignation talks are the result of humiliating defeat being faced by the party in the just concluded Assembly elections.

The PMO office sources have said that before the elections there would be no such major change in the government.

In the press conference on January 3, PM Singh is expected to strongly defend  the performance of UPA's government over the past decade and his excellent rapport with the Congress president and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi. During the presser the PM may also suggest that he will be available to groom and guide Rahul Gandhi.

It is widely expected that in a crucial AICC meeting scheduled on January 17, the Congress may announce its Prime Ministerial candidate.

Though Rahul Gandhi has so far expressed his unwillingness to lead the government and has also failed to show any magic in the past Assembly elections; however, a large number of leaders with in the Congress wants the party Vice-President to be declared as PM in waiting.
