Manmohan's defence not impressive
One just wonders why does the UPA government believe that only FDI in retail can set country on the path of success again. There are too many other options that can be explored and on the positive side those options wouldn't affect the lower middle class.

MANMOHAN SINGH, the Prime Minister of India finally opened his mouth and defended policies of his government regarding various reforms. His speech, broadcast on national TV, was not impressive and appeared to be a UPA speech and not his own opinion.

It is very bad that country’s economic situation has gone so bad when four economists lead the government. India was the country that successfully came out from the recession, which no other big power could do.

By saying that country will prosper with FDI in retail, I agree with Dr Singh as I believe it will force retailers out of business. There are other options that would help our economy to grow stronger and FDI isn’t the only option.

Since independence rich people like Tatas and Birlas and now Ambanis as well have been getting their domestic cooking gas cylinders on subsidized prices. Why didn’t our government restrict subsidies given to rich people?

Ours is a welfare state and financial deficit is definite. To make up for the losses in budget, government has to impose tax on products which rich people consume more.

Why should we spare rich people when they are able to pay more taxes? One thing is very important we should talk about Black Money. Some millions of rupees are in the foreign banks but we are afraid of getting them because politically we will loose in the process.

At least people of India don’t know the names of people, who stash cash in foreign banks to evade taxes.
