Was it in retaliation of the death of Kishenji, a Maoist leader, in an encounter with the joint action forces in the Jangalmahal of West Bengal?
The Maoists have apparently first carried out an IED blast and then targeted the police convoy of the MP who was returning from a program in a nearby location. The escort vehicle got in the line of fire and the vehicle in which the MP was traveling managed to speed away.
The attack happened in the dense forest region of the Tiger reserve in Palamau.
Obviously, tackling violence with violence to gain political mileage does not appear to be a proper solution. If one Kishenji goes, another will take his place.
