Tension is mounting under Malakangiri and Koraput districts since past couple of months, as the Maoists intensified their activities like abducting civilians from remote villages and killing them brutally. Such inhumane activities are proving their presence.
According to the official sources six tribals from Chintalawada and Ramaguda village of Kalimela block under Malakangiri district had been abducted at gun point on last Wednesday night by Maoists. This is in spite of deployment of special anti-naxal police force just about three kilometers away from these villages.
Out of six kidnapped villagers, one Tulasi Behera, ward member of Chinlatawada village and Joga Madkami of Ramaguda village were found dead near Bijangwada area which is at a walkable distance from the BSF camp on Saturday morning. Others who had been abducted were set free by the Maoists on last Friday. The Maoists claimed that the two villagers were killed in suspicion of police informers. The Maoists also killed Contractor Govind Saha at Malkangiri village on Saturday according to police officials who confirmed the killing.
The Naxals belonging to the same group of Maoists killed Pravakar Madkami of Manyumkonda Panchayat on Saturday and later Maoists set on fire a private bus near Beheraguda of Kalimela block.
Even in spite of having sufficient time from the date of abduction and killing of the two villagers, the police failed to save the life of the poors rather it was confined to showing some false, fabricated and concocted reasons. Earlier the Maoists while observing Peoples Liberation Gorilla Week from 2nd December had killed two persons by slitting their throats in Kumbhariput village under Bandhugaon block in Koraput district on 7th December’ 2013 suspecting them as police informers. They have been identified as Saraka Bandhu and Desh Huika.
The Maoists also went to Kumbhariput village and torched four heavy vehicles, a Roller, a tractor and a dumper worth some crores of rupees. They also warned the company officials to stop the construction of Ranchi - Vijaywada road. Maoists have also demanded to withdraw the BSF Police Camps from the area and stop police atrocities on common tribals.
