Maoists kill two, five abducted persons set free
Two Grama Rakhi (village police) personnel Jagabandhu Khillo and Manik Khillo were killed in Odisha by Maoists. They had been kidnapped by Maoists along with another five tribals on 23rd September 2012.

THE BODIES of Manik Khillo and Jagabandhu Khillo were found with their throats slit near Panasput area of Chitrakonda Tahasil under Malkangiri district in Odisha. The other five people were taken as hostage as they did not follow the orders of the Maoists to quit their jobs, and not to pass the information to the police about the movement of Maoists.

While the two have been killed, the other five persons were assaulted brutally in presence of the public in a village. The villagers were present in other side of the Chitrakonda reservoir - and were not within the reach of the police due to heavy rains.

The teachers working in these villages never go to schools and the medical facilities are practically nil.  Jagabandhu Khillo was a native of Jodiamba village and Manik Khillo was a resident of Handikhal.

However, five persons were set free by the Maoists on 26th September. The released persons stated that they have been tortured and beaten up by the Maoists during captivity. In another incident 9 tribals suspected to be Maoists were arrested by security personnel during a combing operation in Koraput district on 26th September ’2012.

The persons were arrested by BSF Jawans and Odisha Police during a joint operation conducted in and around Elengivalasha village under Bandhugaon police limits, police said. The arrested persons were identified by the police as members of the Janjabati area committee of out-lowed CPI (Maoists) Koraput – Srikakullam division.

The arrested persons confessed to their involvement in around 8 Maoist-related offenses in the area, which had taken place in the last one year, Koraput superintendent of Police Abhinash Kumar told media persons. Some more persons are expected to be taken into custody with alleged involvement in other Maoists related offences.
