MAOISTS REBELS struck once again in Jharkhand to protest against the proposed offensive against them during the 72-hour strike they have called. The rebels blew up railway track at two places on Tuesday in Giridih which is used primarily to transport coal from the state.
The strike call by Maoists has badly affected the road and rail traffic in most of Jharkhand after rail authorities cancelled several trains and diverted others due to fear of terror strikes. Railway officials said that they had taken this decision as precautionary measure and to ensure there was no threat to passengers, who have been targeted in the recent past. Traffic on roads is also minimal, particularly on the national highways as long-route buses are not plying on the route. Movement of load carriers is also severely affected due to the strike called by Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist).
