THE WOMEN'S History Month, celebrated in March this year, is a time when people all over the US celebrate the contribution of women in culture, history and society. In the US, the Women’s History Month coincides with the International Women's Day, which is celebrated the world over on March 8.
Each year, the National Women's History Project selects a theme for the Women’s History Month. The theme for 2010 has been "Writing Women Back into History." This year, the President of the US Barack Obama wrote in the Presidential Proclamation “Countless women have steered the course of our history, and their stories are ones of steadfast determination. From reaching for the ballot box to breaking barriers on athletic fields and battlefields, American women have stood resolute in the face of adversity and overcome obstacles to realize their full measure of success”
Several US universities and Women’s organizations are celebrating Women’s History Month, some of which include the Vanderbilt University and Girls Inc.
