Marilyn Munroe - an enigma of our times
She is the greatest mystery of our times and people have seen Munroe like the way they want to. She was a superstar and is so much alive even after 50 years of her life.

MARILYN MUNROE died 50 years back on August 5 and still manages to intrigue the minds. She is truly an enigma of our times and would be remembered as a girl in the iconic pose at least in India. Although film lovers do know of all the movies she has done and her struggle to deal with life and a premature death, for others she is the girl with blonde hair struggling to keep her billowing white skirt down and in the process making millions of hearts race.

What Marilyn Munroe immortalized in the best film of her career 'The Seven Year Itch' has been recreated time and again in reel and real life, both in India and abroad. A larger than life sculpture by Seward Johnson in her famous windblown skirt pose has been erected in Palms spring. The pose that was photographed by Bernand captures the free spirited girl that Marilyn was. The sheer pleasure, gush of life and sexuality in a subtle way lives on even when she is no more for 50 years.

In Bollywood we have our very own Mallika Sherawat who recreated the iconic pose in the movie Kis Kis Ki Kismet. Although it was most of a hit and run case yet she must be credited to take on the challenge. While no other actors in Bollywood have tried to try the pose, there was a time in the yesteryears when Hollywood was teeming with wannabes of Marilyn Munroe. The studios also tried to create a number of Marilyn Munroes and came up with Barbara Lang, Barbara Nichols, Joi Lansing, Diana Dors and Mamie Van Doren but no one could replicate the scene to a tee. However a number of attempts have been made. The pose was so iconic that even her dress went under the hammer for charity.

After 50 years of her passing away people are still in awe about the superstar who wrapped Hollywood around her little finger and mesmerized the rest of the world with her billowing skirt pose.
