Marriages are made in the classroom
Marriages are no longer made in heaven, but in classrooms. Colleges have become the hot bed of young romance. Television and movies are encouraging young love marriages, a trend the youth seem only too willing to follow.

THOSE WHO are on the wrong side of thirty in India are now facing a new crisis. Especially men, who traditionally look for younger partners. The reason is the growing trend of young love marriages.

Tender love begins in the college class room, if it hasn’t already started in school. In our stressful times there isn’t much time before ‘I like you’ becomes ‘I love you’.

Friendship soon turns into love and pals happily become partners. This is primarily because of the influence of movies and serials where boys and girls are shown to get married immediately out of college.

No longer is a well settled, earning groom a pre requisite for a marriage. Therefore love’s strayed from the grassy lawns of professional colleges to the gardens of degree colleges too. Young people today decide firmly that they will both try for jobs if their family decline support for their marriage.

This could be taken as a good sign for it shows the breeding of great independence in the young generation. But it could also be seen as immature and emotional behaviour. Whether it is a healthy trend remains debatable.
