Maruti Alto 800 hits the road
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, India's largest cart maker has launched a new version of its best-selling model, Alto to compete with the cheap cars like Tata Nano and Hyundai EON.

THE NEW version of Alto is Maruti Alto 800, which is priced between Rs. 2.44 lakhs to 3.65 lakhs. The Maruti Alto 800 which runs on petrol is priced between Rs 2.44 lakhs to 2.99 lakhs and the CNG version is also available, which is priced between Rs 3.19 lakhs to Rs 3.56 lakhs.

This car has many more added features when compared to the the older version of Alto. Nearly 200 engineers were involved in developing this vehicle and they took about four years to complete it.

The changes under the hood are a new lighter crankshaft, a new plastic intake system, a new cylinder head, a new piston rings and a new gearbox. These new things will help to boost the output by eleven percent when compared with the previous model. Keeping in mind the increasing fuel rates, this car is good at its fuel economy also and gives 22.7kmpl for the petrol version and 30.46km/kg for the CNG version. Coming to the safety, the car will be provided with an optional driver airbag.

The car will come in six vibrant colours with a trendy and fashionable interior, with sport stylish hand lamp. Coming to comfort level, it has better headroom and legroom when compared to the previous version. This new version of Alto has been developed to overcome the tough market conditions of the small cars due to high petrol prices and interest rates. Maruti has spent Rs 470 crore in developing this new model of Alto.

This new model of Alto 800 is been expected to break the records of the small cars in the market like Tata Nano, which has a benchmark engineering and an excellent fuel economy, Maruti 800 the first small car in India, Maruti Alto, Hyundai Santro which is known for its efficiency and reliability and delivers a good mileage and power and Chevrolet Spark which is the modified version of Matiz.

The bookings for the new Alto 800 started in September and Maruti has received 10000 pre-bookings for its new model. The expectations are very high on the new avatar of Alto, let's wait and see whether it meets the expectations or not.
