THE COMPANY also decided to cancel the registration of unions at Suzuki Powertrain India Limited and Suzuki Motor Cycle. Haryana labour department said that unions at these companies will be de-registered, while action would be taken against workers at the Manesar plant. Striking workers are demanding that the company should honour its commitment and alllow all of them to join work, barring the suspended employees. They allege that the company had disallowed casual workers from entering into the plant and it was this reason that forced them to go on strike again.
The government, meanwhile, is not amused by the reason given by the workers and sources said tough action is being contemplated against the agitators. The state labour department had issued a notice to the workers on October 10, holding them responsible for breach of settlement arrived on October 1. Undeterred by the government action, union officials, meanwhile, expressed confidence that the strike by workers will continue till their goal is achieved. They said that they will discuss the issues with labour officials to resolve the problems.
