Maruti Suzuki hikes prices of all models by up to 9,000
After Hyundia hiked prices of all its models almost fifteen days back, India's largest car manufacturer, Maruti Suzuki India has hiked the prices of all its models, except the newly launched S-Cross, by up to Rs 9,000.

The hike came in to effect from August 11. The official company spokesperson cited revision of dealer margins as the reason for the hike. He also said that the ex-showroom prices have been hiked from Rs 3,000 to Rs 9,000, depending on the model, but for buyers the effective hike shall be lesser as handling and logistics have been integrated with the dealer margins.

"This is just a minor calibration in prices," he said. The firm's current portfolio in India ranges from its entry-level car Alto 800 to premium crossover S-Cross, priced between Rs 2.52 lakh to Rs 13.74 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It has a near 50% share in the country's passenger vehicle market.

However, it is still not clear as to what shall be the exact effective hike on each model. Since, the cost of raw materials like steel and aluminum has remained stagnant; the need for a price hike was not necessitated in this year so far.
