Maruti Suzuki Ups Production To Meet Demand
Maruti Suzuki plans to increase production capability of its Manesar plant by a lakh unit by the end of this fiscal year.

MARUTI SUZUKI plans to increase production capability of its Manesar plant by a lakh unit by the end of this fiscal year. This will help bring down the delivery period for its fast selling models like the Swift Diesel, Swift D’zire and the Ritz petrol.

Together the Gurgaon and the Manesar plants will be able to cross the 10 lakh (one million) units mark. Manesar plant’s capacity will be increased to cater to higher demand for new models. Currently, the Swift Diesel and the Dzire comes with a waiting period of six months and there is a backlog in supply of the export worthy A-Star.

Maruti Suzuki has planned to allocate Rs 2,100 Crore for the year 2009-10 on re-tooling the plant for production efficiencies, developing new models and the Research and development activity for its K series engine.

The senior executive officer for sales and marketing at Maruti Suzuki, Mr  Mayank Pareek said “ the production for Dzire sedans has gone up to 7,000 units from the earlier 3,000 units last year. Same is with the Swift hatchback where 10,000 units of the car is manufactured 6,000-7000 units last year. We are panning to increase our production of cars to meet the higher demand constantly.

Further the company launched the new revised Grand Vitara SUV which has been slowly picking up from pace. Maruti Suzuki plans to launch a new MUV based on the Versa by the end of this year. It will also be launched the CNG versions of all its models by the first quarter of next year after gauging the response to Maruti Alto CNG.
