Seven people were killed and more than thirty others were injured in a massive explosion west of Kabul in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. The blast occurred close to an American University and the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development.
AT LEAST seven people were killed and more than thirty others were injured in a massive explosion west of Kabul in the wee hours of Tuesday morning. The blast occurred close to an American University and the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in the Darul Aman area of the fortified Afghan capital.
Sources at Isteqlal hospital which is located near the explosion site in Darul Aman area reported to have received thirty one injured may of them in critical condition. Eyewitnesses say a government bus and a NATO vehicle was the target of the explosion. A local resident on condition of anonymity said, “I was in my room nearly a kilometer away from the blast scene, but the shocking blast shattered windows of our building.”
The incident occurred a week after the Taliban warned to launched a nationwide militant operation across the country as a part of their spring offensive. Despite tight security in Kabul, the city has seen some high-profile attacks by Taliban militants in recent months.
