Match preview: CSK vs RR – Chennai play the first game at their new home ground
Chennai Super Kings will play against the Rajasthan Royals at the Maharashtra Cricket Association (MCA) Stadium in Pune in match number 17 of VIVO IPL 2018 on Friday night.

Chennai were forced to change their home ground just after their first game from Chepauk to Pune following the Cauvery water crisis protests in the state.

While Chennai return from a four-day break, Rajasthan will be back just after a day's rest after their disappointing loss at home against KKR in their last match on Wednesday. Both teams have 4 points each, with Rajasthan having played one more match than Chennai.

Chennai Super Kings had a good start to the season, winning the first two games against the Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders respectively but lost their third game to Kings XI Punjab.

But with two back-to-back wins against Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Rajasthan will be high on confidence against Chennai today.

Batting woes continue for Chennai, with Suresh Raina missing the last match due to injury. Chennai would hope that the injured Suresh Raina would be fit enough to play tonight. The only players in form are Dwayne Bravo and Sam Billings.

With the likes of Harbhajan Singh, Shane Watson, Ravindra Jadeja, Shardul Thakur and Dwayne Bravo in their bowling line-up, skipper Dhoni would expect his bowlers to perform better today.

For the Rajasthan Royals players like Ben Stokes, Jaydev Unadkat, D'Arcy Short and Jos Buttler have to perform as per expectations. So far skipper Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson have done most of the work in the batting department. Spinners K Gowtham and Shreyas Gopal have also been used well by their skipper.

Chennai have won 11 out of the 17 overall matches that have been played between the two teams in IPL till date.
