Match Preview: RPS V/s KKR – Reviving Pune face formidable Kolkata
On a perfect roll after three back-to-back wins, the rejuvenated Pune will face a tough challenge when they take on two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders in an Indian Premier League encounter on Wednesday.

After remaining in the bottom-half of the points table at the start, RPS notched up three consecutive wins to progress to the fourth place.

On Monday, Pune scored a tight three-run victory over the Mumbai Indians in a very thrilling encounter, courtesy some effective bowling by Jaydev Unadkat and Ben Stokes at the end of the innings. Their opener Rahul Tripathi's batting has also proved to be a boost for their campaign. This 26-year-old player from Maharashtra came up with scores of 31, 59 and 45 in the previous three matches.

Former Pune skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni too showed his panache with a sparkling 61* against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in Saturday's game.

The Aussie Steve Smith and Ajinkya Rahane have contributed significantly from time to time with Manoj Tiwary also playing a few useful cameos.

In the bowling department, the South African spinner Imran Tahir has taken ten wickets so far to emerge as his team's best bowler so far, while Unadkat and Stokes have snapped 5 and 6 wickets respectively so far.

Captain Gautam Gambhir led from the front with two half-centuries in the starting phase of IPL 2017 and when he didn't succeed in contributingwith the bat, Manish Pandey and Robin Uthappa stepped in to do bulk of the scoring.

During their last match, however, it was the Kolkata bowlers who produced a fantastic show to bundle out the RCB for 49 –the lowest score in IPL's history. Nathan Coulter-Nile has scalped eight after featuring in only three games for Kolkata whereas Chris Woakes has taken ten wickets in the seven matches that he has played. Umesh Yadav too has seven wickets from five outings.

Among the spinners, slow left-arm chinaman Kuldeep Yadav has taken six wickets in as many matches for KKR.
