May British Royals multiply
The British Royalty is known as the House of Hanover. Hanover is a medieval town in Germany and was ruled by a distinguished line of kings. They were Protestants from the time Martin Luther had raised his banner of revolt against the Pope of Rome.
QUEEN ELIZABETH II will be great grandmother in December 2010. Congratulations, Your Majesty. The news has delighted me and most of the people who know the British Royals living in the Buckingham Palace, the kensington Garden, the Balmoral Palace or anywhere. Of course, some commoners say "I don't care". It all depends what attitude one has towards the Royals.

FIVE CENTURIES AGO

Queen Elizabeth I was the reining and the ruling monarch of England five hundred years ago. She made no claim to fame as the mother, the grand mother and the great grand mother. She could not have done so, even if she wanted. She was a Virgin. England took pride in the fact that they had a VIRGIN QUEEN as their ruler.

By the way, the present day reader does not have to take the word Virgin literally. Queen Elizabeth I had an honorific title as the Virgin Queen because she never wore the bridal gown nor walked down the church aisle to the altar to hear the Archbishop of Canterbury say "I pronounce thee as Man and wife.

” No Royal Prince worth the name ever claimed to be her suitor or lover thereafter. Sir Walter Scott made that mistake, spread his red and gold gown over a puddle to enable Her Majesty walk over the bad patch without spoiling her sandals. Sir Walter Scott claimed to be Queen's lover of sorts. However, before the Royal amorous game could reach the nuptial stage, Sir Walter Scott lost his head, that is, was beheaded under a royal decree.

The Queen claimed to be a virgin despite sexual escapades and royal hunts. The royal life is like that.

England saw many Queens ascend the throne of England and earn title like Bloody Mary, Queen of Scots etc but none was as colourful as Queen Elizabeth I, the Virgin Queen.

THE INDIAN CONNECTION

Queen Victoria was a reigning queen for many decades. She was on the throne when the British Empire was at its zenith and the Sun never set on it. The empire spread from Canada in the New World to New Zealand in the farthest east of the old world. The silver rupee in circulation in India bore an image of Queen Victoria and even the illiterate Indian from the most interiror village in Bastar tribal belt knew about her.

The queen had an Indian Munshi to help her remain in touch with her Indian subjects answering letters in the native language. The Queen gained some notoriety because of her amorous entanglement with the India Munshi.

The India House in London despatched the Munshi to India post haste and ensured that he was put on board the first ship sailing for the East.

Queen Victoria had a large family of sons, daughters, grand children and great grand children spread all over Europe and were nurtured in different palaces from Moscow to Madrid. The Royalty held its sway in the peaceful days before World War I. It is said that Queen Victoria found it difficult to keep count of her progeny spread all over because she could not take the help of electronic calculators and memory banks as they did not exist then.

THE GERMAN CONNECTION

The British Royalty is known as the House of Hanover. Hanover is a medieval town in Germany and was ruled by a distinguished line of kings. They were Protestants from the time Martin Luther had raised his banner of revolt against the Pope of Rome. In the bargain he had married a nun and opened the door of marital bliss to the Protestant clergy. Hanover remained a staunch follower of Protestantism and so was England from Henry VIII onwards. Whenever, England needed a King they extended their search upto Hanover. The latter never disappointed them.

In the 21st century Queen Elizabeth I is the only reigning monarch who is going to be blessed with a great grand child. As a matter of fact the day is not far off when there will be only five kings or queens in this world – four in the pack of cards and the fifth on the throne of England. As we know, the last to be sacrificed at the altar of democracy was King Gyanendra, the Maharaj Dhiraj of Nepal. With him had ended a dynasty founded by Maharaj Prithvi Narayan Shah almost two and a half centuries ago.
May God bless the Queen Elizabeth II and the baby to be born.
