MCG on a demolition spree, razes to ground 10 'illegal' constructions

Tightening the belts, MCG demolished around a dozen illegal constructions around the '900-square-meter area and warned the locals of legal action if they disobey the court ruling that has declared the area 'unauthorised' for any sort of constructions.

MUNICIPAL CORPORATION of Gurgaon (MCG) has treaded on a demolition spree and on Wednesday, the corporation demolished 10 illegal constructions around the '900-square meter land', which was declared unauthorised area for constructions in a 'controversial' court ruling recently.

After a protracted legal battle by counsellors, court declared the area as 'unauthorised', making it clear that no development or construction is allowed on the land. Thereafter MCG tightened its belts to clear the area and started demolishing all unauthorised constructions.

As per MCG officials, on the orders of commissioner Sudhir Rajpal, the corporation with its encroachment team, under the leadership of chief engineer YK Gargand demolished 10 illegal buildings in Ayudh Depot. "We have demolished eight illegal constructions at Nobel farms and two in Dharam colony," said executive engineer Rajesh Bansal.

“We have already informed and warned the local people not to construct any buildings in 900 sq meter area, but they are indifferent. So we were bound to take this tough step which also created fear and problems for the locals,” another MCG offcial said.

"We have already apprised people about the court orders many a time and told them not to begin any new constructions," added the official. MCG has also warned locals that if they will disobey these orders they will face legal actions.
