MCG tightens payment norms, launches drive against stray animals
Municipal Corporation of Gurgaon has made payment norms strict and has initiated a drive against stray animals.

TO TIGHTEN the screws of contractors who have failed to deliver as per expectations, MCG Gurgaon has set up new rules to make payments. This comes after a number of issues came to light over discrepancies in payments.

As the MCG is still working with the old accounting system and the double entry system has not been implemented, a number of bills were paid without any scrutiny and this also gave room for massive corruption.

To keep a check, MCG has now said that if any non-scheduled item is required, then approval will have to be taken separately. No deviation can be made by officials from the stipulated scope of work and no majo changes can be made in the scope of work, till approval is taken from highest authority. All these steps have been taken to check corrupt practices. It was also decided that a copy of allotment contract would also be sent to the Mayor, Vigilance Committee and the concerned Ward Councillor. Meanwhile, in an unrelated move, the MCG has launched a drive to curb the menace of stray animals roaming in the municipal areas of the city. At an average about sixty stray animals are being caught and they are sent to the Gaushala at Carterpuri. This drive has been launched to prevent road accidents, said MCG.
