Media must start playing a revolutionary role. It has the power and zeal. It must hold the hands of masses and lead them on. The common man will realise his potential and learn to find solutions to his problems.
INDIA IS the biggest democracy in the world. Today it is poised to become a superpower. Under the circumstances the media in the country is entrusted with the big responsibility of projecting the image of the country rightly. The Fourth Estate has been playing its role rather positively but a lot more needs to be done. Media must focus on the common man and bring about his problems.
Instead of wasting precious newsprint on page Three, fashion, world media must bring out true stories and incidents that can have an impact on the mind of our youth. Media is such a powerful weapon; it can cut across barriers of status, caste, religion real fast. Media must reach out to the common man and help him find solutions to his own problem by voicing his grievances, his concerns. By taking on this added responsibility, media can really play a revolutionary role. The Press Clubs can take the lead. They must make their members aware of their responsibilities. People with a penchant to bring about a change must be elected in the Club and they must be made accountable for their acts.
No doubt media has been playing its role in the development and progress of the country. It can play a larger and bigger role by changing itself to do better.
