Medical students clash in Orissa, 20 arrested
According to sources, few days back a senior student had beaten one junior student at a hostel located inside the MKCG medical college campus. However, the senior student had apologized and tension was eased then.

IN AN unexpected move, the Baidyanathpur police have arrested as many as 20 medical students of the MKCG Medical College on Wednesday night following a group clash in the evening.
 
According to sources, few days back a senior student had beaten one junior student at a hostel located inside the MKCG medical college campus. However, the senior student had apologized and tension was eased then.
 
But the seniors wanted to take revenge as they had to beg apologies before the juniors during that incident.
 
The students have been divided into two groups and the clash took place inside the hostel located in the medical campus. Some students were injured in the clash and have been administered first aid at the casualty, informed a source.

 
On Wednesday, a group of seniors attacked the juniors and went on beating them in the campus hostel. A group of seniors belonging to the fourth year had then supported the first year students. On the other hand, the third year students had supported the second year students.
 
Students informed the authorities and reached the Baidyanathpur police station to lodge an FIR. Later, cases were lodged from both sides; seniors as well as juniors. The police has detained the students and was questioning students belonging to both the groups till night.
 
 
The  police has detained as many as 20 students; 11 belonged to one group while 9 to the other group. All 20 have been sent to jail onwards from the court on Wednesday night.
 
Platoons of police have been deployed at the MKCG medical and in front of Baidyanathpur police station. Tension prevails in the campus, yet no violence was reported on Thursday.
 
Medical students might remain in the jail for next four days as the lawyers are are on strike as a part of their agitation demanding a High Court bench at Berhampur. Lawyers do not attend court during the four days of last week of every month and even do not file any bail application.
