MEDITATION IS an answer to many ailments that most people suffer today. People are stressed out and bored with their routine jobs. Many people are looking for a change to break the monotony in their lives. Meditation can help you realise that peace brings change that you are looking for. You can call it a liquid phenomenon that can bring change at any point of time. To quote American actor and martial arts expert, Bruce Lee, “Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless – like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes a bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

In this high-tech world where everything has changed, meditation, which is followed in several spiritual places, follow some similar and peculiar trends. But, meditation is not a kind of thing. It’s something that brings consciousness or a sense of realisation. There can be different kinds of meditation and a fixed method might not be suitable for everyone. Therefore, there should not be a single kind of meditation practice. There can be different forms of meditation, for example walking, jogging, swimming – anything can be categorised as meditation.

Meditation is most effective when your body, mind and soul are in sync and work in perfect harmony, no matter what way you achieve this state of mind. However, meditation is not something that can be fragmented – it is a continuous effort. Once you start meditating, you might not be able to concentrate, as mind always plays tricks. Therefore, meditation under the guidance of a yoga guru is must. Regular practice is also important. Otherwise, it won’t help.

Take some time for your own self – manipulate things around you and find the peace that is hidden inside. The art of meditation lies in your inner selves. Find that power and realise the peace that you have always looked for. Practice makes a man perfect, they say and this applies very well while learning the art of meditation. It’s a slow process and once you learn the art, you will never forget.

According to Swami Sivananda, a great yoga master from India, “Meditation is the dissolution of thoughts in eternal awareness or pure consciousness without objectification, knowing without thinking, merging finitude in infinity.” Practice this art – make it a habit in your daily life and enjoy the real beauty and elation in your inner-self. This is the main objective of meditation, no matter how you achieve this goal.
