Overall, the corporation has acquired 80,000 acres of land for the entire USD 90 billion venture that will cover Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat. The project mainly focuses on development of industrial and commercial infrastructure, as well as new cities along the Delhi-Mumbai dedicated freight corridor. The project was announced by Amitabh Kant, Managing Director of DMICDC, at a Ficci function in New Delhi on Monday. He noted that the corporation is currently looking for foreign investment in the project, adding that global investment is best suited because this will keep off issues like land acquisition and environment clearances, according to rediff.com. The project is being co-financed by the centre, which will offer money both in form of debt and equity. DMICDC has also completed the master plans for development of new cities in Haryana and UP. A similar urban development plan will also be implemented in 17 other cities in the country in the near future.
