Men should see women as counterparts, not rivals
Rapes are being reported from almost every part of the country. Protest rallies and political slogans will not always help in curbing the menace. We need to go deep into the story. I made a small effort to find out the reasons behind this heinous crime.

Our society has been dominated by males since time immemorial. Even though people are talking about women empowerment, no visible change has been seen so far. The women are excelling and even going ahead of men in various fields of life.

However, the males in our country are finding it too hot to handle as the women are breaking free of the chains of society and contributing in its development just like men do. Many men can’t reconcile to this fact as they only saw women as child-producing machines.

Feeling that they are losing their power in the society, these males enter into an ego war with women, and I believe this leads to sexual assaults on women. Women across the country have been witnessing numerous incidents of sexual assaults and rapes over the years, the incident in Delhi being the most recent and heinous of all.

Even though there is a loud talk taking place of the need for women empowerment, but as we take a look around, male dominance continues unabated.

Females in our country must understand that they live in a society where the evil eyes of misogynists are continuously watching them; they must learn to protect their dignity and 'bodies' too. However, having said all this, we all must join hands with men who see women as their counterparts so that we can defeat the evil sections of our society.

We never said that all males in our society see women as their rivals, but there is a need for people who want an end to crimes against women to stand up against the evil forces.
