AS EXPECTED, owing to the Sunday’s accident at one of the under construction sites of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation-Jamrudpur (Lajpat Nagar) that killed six people including an engineer and injured 17 people-Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has sacked its one of the directors project, Vijay Anand

According to reports, Vijay Anand director project of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, was also the director (in charge) of the Central Secretariat to Badarpur route of the Phase II that was the site where the horrible accident took place. And that compelled DMRC’s Managing Director- E Sreedharan to resign although his resignation was rejected but DMRC’s image came under hammer and questions were raised on its working from different sections of the society. There were even speculations that is India really ready for such ambitious high tech projects? Do we have the workforce that has the potential to materialise projects like Delhi Metro?

Some sources have claimed that Vijay Anand, Director Project of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has not been sacked but had been transferred to his parent company The Indian Railways of the Government of India.

The high profile Director Project of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, Vijay Anand was selected to work for DMRC in the year 2001 and since then he has been an integral part of DMRC, during his association with DMRC he played a key in many projects including completion of 20 km long route of line 3. The project in question was completed in a record time of three years. His engineering contribution and achievements for DMRC garnered him prestigious promotion and he was promoted to Director Projects in the year 2007 in October.

But destiny had something else for Vijay Anand, as he was the in charge of the route where fatal accident took place, he had to be sacked or removed to ensure accountability in the system.

If DMRC, a Delhi Government undertaking department can go to any length to ensure accountability why can’t our Central Government take stringent steps against the corrupt bureaucrats and politicians who are good for nothing-they are burden on this beautiful land of Swami Vivekananda.
