Mexican Jimena Navarrete wins Miss Universe 2010 crown
Apart from Miss Universe, some other awards were also up for grab. Second runner up Australian Jesinta Campbell won the Miss Congeniality Universe award, while Thai beauty Fonthip Watcharatrakul won Miss Photogenic Universe.
AT A glittering ceremony in Las Vegas on Monday, young and gorgeous 22-year old Mexican beauty, Jimena Navarrete was crowned with the Miss Universe 2010 title. The new Miss Universe received the coveted crown from the reigning Miss Universe Stefania Fernandez of Venezuela.

Svelte beauties from Jamaica, Yendi Phillips and Australia, Jesinta Campbell were adjudged first and second runner up respectively. In all 83 contestants were selected from across the world to compete in the annual beauty pageant.

At the finale the new beauty princess wore a red coloured gown. She left judges awe struck with her insightful answers. One of the judges, former Olympic champion, figure skating, Evan Lysacek asked her an interesting practical question—her opinion on unsupervised internet use specially for kids. She replied gracefully with glimpse of somberness on her face and emphasized on the need to keep a watch on kids while they indulge on internet, “I do believe that internet is an indispensable, necessary tool for the present time. We must be sure to teach them the values that we learned as a family.”  

The 2010 Miss Universe beauty pageant was judged by nine famous celebrities, beside Lysacek, the eight others were actors Chazz Palminteri and William Baldwin, actress Jane Seymour and Chynna Phillips, anchor Tamron Hall, musician E Shiela, magician Criss Angel and super model Niki Taylor. The star studded show was aired across the world.       

Apart from Miss Universe, some other awards were also up for grab. Second runner up Australian Jesinta Campbell won the Miss Congeniality Universe award, while Thai beauty Fonthip Watcharatrakul won Miss Photogenic Universe, she was also crowned with the best national costume award.
    
Ushoshi Sen Gupta represented India with high hopes, but couldn’t repeat the history; Sushmita Sen was the first Indian to win the coveted crown in the year 1994, six years later the crown was again won by an Indian, Lara Dutta in the year 2000.
