Mexico the `Narcoland'
The Mexican experience is no more simply about enticing travels through historical, cultural and archaeological treasures, vibrant paprika flavored palette, vivacious cities, welcoming locals and surf time under the warm Latin American sun.

Over the past few years the Mexican heartland has shocked the world having become a war-theater of sorts, generously funded by international organized crime syndicates to facilitate profit in the modern narcotics trade. The past decade has seen the Mexican drug-war claim the lives of an estimated number of over half a million civilians as well as drug lords and trafficking agents and even security personnel, leading the international media to often dub this dark Mexican spectacle as a 'bloodbath'.

The ill-famed narcotics trade has indeed turned the worst, most violent chapter in Mexican history. The ensuing drug-war is orchestrated and controlled by competing 'cartels' with the 'doe' moving in an upwards from South America to the United States making an estimated 15 billion dollars a year. The US having curtailed their narcotics operation, it is estimated that close to the entire supply of 'coke' consumed in America is sourced from Mexico. Shifting alliances and horrific rivalry characterises the accretion of the warlords. The most prominent drug-lords among these strive to assume control of the main arteries and routes through which trafficking is practiced.

Drug-wars ensure a colossal scale of collateral damage. The Mexican NARCO-parade has resulted in the ignominy of drug-deaths. Sporadic deaths of innocent bystanders have turned the Mexican hinterlands into a gory battlefield. The infamy of violence is such that deaths have become cheaper than poaching, with hit men charging meagerly for shooting targets.

Jobless civilians, innocent immigrants are being sucked into the criminal network of drug-trafficking by murderous overlords, recruiting them by alluring offers of easy money and gunning them down as easily. The notorious gangsters enjoy impunity from law and target defenseless victims for illegal work. On the other hand the Mexican society has been disclosed to treachery, extortion and torture. Subsidiary trades involving weapons trafficking and trafficking of women and children bear testimony to decay in so many levels in the Mexican society.
