Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta Jones were considered a rare example in the Hollywood saga of cheating, divorce and extra-marital affairs but after 13 years of marriage, even their happily ever after ended. What came as a shock to most people outside the close Hollywood community, was not so to the community itself, as news about the couple's troubled marital status was rife for quite time now.
Michael Douglas, 68 years seems to have already given up on the relationship, as he has already consulted lawyers. But, in spite of this, neither he nor his 43 year old wife is filing for divorce yet. As reported by dailymail.com, the couple have mutually agreed to ‘take some time apart’ and ‘work on their marriage’.
The marriage, which faced a number of crisis in the last few years were considered to be the strongest, in spite of the 25 years age difference. At times, when most couple would crumble and fall, they stood strong beside each other: during Michael Douglas's throat cancer and Catherine Zeta Jone's stint at the rehab for her bipolar depression.
Now after 13 years of many highs and bigger lows, it seems that the dedicated couple is calling it quits. Zeta Jones has taken her two children to her mother's upstate New York apartment and Douglas has been touring France alone. They were last seen together at the 40th Annual Chaplin Award Gala in New York.
