WORLD'S LARGEST software conglomerate Microsoft's Indian unit launched the new Kinect interface for Xbox 360 in India on Thursday. The device will be offered in India in two variants viz Standalone bundle and All-in-one bundle. The device which has already seen tremendous success, has sold over 1 million units within the first day of its release. The device allows the users to play games physically rather than using the conventional joystick.
The device which is installed with an embedded RGB camera, depth sensor indulges the user in some physical activity. On the launch of the device in India, Microsoft India's regional director Jaspreet Bindra told reporters that Kinect has not only revolutionised gaming, but has the potential to introduce applications spanning areas like health and education. This is the next era in the evolution of human interface with computers and beginning the move from Graphical User Interface to Natural User Interface.For users who already own an Xbox 360 gaming console the standalone Kinect sensor and Kinect Adventures game will be available for Rs 9,990. Whereas, the Xbox 360 4GB along with the Kinect sensor will cost Rs 22,990.
Some respite for Xbox 360 Slim owners is that they can connect the Kinect directly to their consoles and save some troubles of fiddling with the wires.
