Microsoft launches Windows 7, expected to be a hit
It is believed that the Windows 7 would be a hit and would reap a lot of profits. With the failure of the preceding Vista version, which the users find too demanding on computer resources, the company suffered a lot of losses.

MICROSOFT, THE world's most popular computer operating system, launched its newest version of operating software, Windows 7, worldwide on October 22, Thursday. Microsoft, the developer of Windows, joined hands with PC makers like HP, HCL and Acer to unveil its seventh generation of the product.

Windows 7 brings a combination of fun, simplicity and security, which may go very well with the users and many would opt to upgrade to it from their previous XP and vista versions.

Ravi Venkatesan, the chairman of Microsoft India said that, as many as 600 new features were tested for Windows 7, so that the best ones can be incorporated. With around 8 million testers worldwide, the product is said to be the largest beta testing program in the history of the industry. He added that many enterprises like Infosys, Maruti, Bangalore Intenational Airport, Biocon, Mindtree etc have all ready started upgrading their systems to Windows 7.

Due to the cost factor combined with the downturn in economy, concerns were raised as to whether the corporates in India would implement Windows or not. But, with signs of recovery in the economy, most tests and good reviews, the corporates have started implementing the newest version.

Bangalore International Airport said that the Windows 7 was working perfectly and by avoiding the third party software, it had already made a savings of 25 per cent. It is believed that cost savings would be the major reason, for upgradation to the software, as it has a lot many security features and thus, there is no need to purchase other security products. One can also avoid a separate virtual private network (VPN) product as it comes with a built in VPN.

It is believed that the Windows 7 would be a hit and would reap a lot of profits. With the failure of the preceding Vista version, which the users find too demanding on computer resources, the company suffered a lot of losses, as users chose to stick with the older XP version.
