Loud noise does not only affect work efficiency, it can cause stress related diseases. It can lead to shrinking of nerves and decreased blood flow which can cause heart attacks and even madness. Avoid noise within the personal sphere at least.
LOUD SOUND in the environment that disrupts the peace is called noise pollution. The intensity of noise is measured in Decibels. When we simply talk the Decibel units rises up to 25-30. A man can tolerate noise up to 110 Decibel.
Above 110 Decibel noise is not only beyond tolerance but it is harmful for our health, ears and brain. If any human being continues to live under 60 to 70 Decibel noise, he shall soon become the victim of frustration and mental disorders. Now a days noise of motorcars, buses, trains, machines and loudspeakers have reached up to 80 to 100 Decibel. It has presented a new challenge to human life. Home televisions and music systems can play up to 110 decibel, which is very harmful. One should develop the habit of listening to music and television programmes at very low volume.
Although noise does not dirty the environment it can cause discomfort and hearing loss in human beings and other animals. Loud noise does not only affect work efficiency but affects the health also. Loud noise can shrink the nerves and affect blood flow which can bring on heart attacks. A 120 Decibel noise can impair a human being’s hearing power permanently. Noise above 150 Decibel can cause madness. Noise disturbs sleep and adds to stress. It can lead to an asthma attack and irritate other allergies.
Twenty per cent of the labourers working in factories are victims of machine noise diseases, some of them remain incurable. Equipment that lessens noise, like silencers, should be installed in all factories and mills. Ear plugs should be provided to the personnel.
The US, U.K., Singapore, Australia and many other advanced countries do not permit their citizens to keep blowing on their car horns. This policy can be adopted every where. There should be a ban imposed on loudspeakers and playing loud music and television. Lastly public should be made aware of the harmful effects of noise.
