Miss Congo Ireland 2009
The maiden Miss Congo Ireland organised by IRCEG, Irish Community Empowerment Group, a not for profit socio-cultural association.

Beautiful and intelligent Vanessa Manuga, alluring and amiable Merry-Joy Itambo, humbly-reticent and affable Sarah Mimbula; versatile and fascinating Gloria Kapuku; the row call goes on and the superlatives are all positively infinite; this rich pool of young and irresistibly attractive contestants is one of the two main factors that influenced the sundry people in Ireland to estimate the maiden Miss Congo Ireland pageant as the ultimate in pageantry.

The other significant influence in the overwhelming success of the pageant is the hard work, resiliency and ingenuity on the part of IRCEG, event organisers.
IRCEG, which stands for Irish community empowerment group, is a not for profit socio-cultural organisations with membership drawn from different African countries and Ireland. Mr Kingidila Macaire is the current president; Mrs Angela Eguakhide is the founding Secretary while Mr Jose Sendula is the vice president. Mr. Kennedy Eguakhide, a member of IRCEG had the responsibility of putting the event together as the special event’s manager.

Olivia K Lamota was named Miss Congo Ireland 2009 after the extraordinary, ground breaking and glitzy pageant which lasted a good five fun-filled hours.
The venue was the plush Heather Suite of the prestigious Crowne Plaza Hotel Blanchardstown Dublin 15. Though it was the maiden edition of Miss Congo Ireland beauty pageant, the venue was agog with distinguished Africans and Europeans from all works of life from all over Ireland, while a healthy handful also came from the UK, France and Belgium to witness the historic pageant.

The guest of honour, the Mayor of Fingal county Council, Councillor, Mr. Kieran Byrne, was in attendance and personally crowned Miss Olivia Lamota, the first Miss Congo Ireland. Other dignitaries in attendance at the epic pageant are, Mr Justin Pambi, President of Congolese community in Ireland, Pastor Pierre Ekanga, Pastor Oluwasegun Akinso, Reginald Okoflex Inya, founder and national chairperson of Nigeria Association Network Ireland, NANI, Mr. Clement Esebamen a senior official at the Ministry of integration and a host of others VIP’s too numerous to mention.
Especially worthy of mention is the remarkable turnout of a capacity crowd , the exceptional presentation by the host and hostesses, the visionary organisational skills of the event’s management team, the ingenuity of all featured Artistes the professionalism of the Judges, the overall good music sense and judgement of the DJ and the array of young, beautiful and intelligent contestants all counted to make Miss Congo Ireland 2009, the pageant of the year in Ireland.

The event’s hostess and secretary of IRCEG, Mrs. Angela Eguakhide introduced all the contestants to a wonderful crowd of overtly excited and cheering spectators and the entire night reverberated immensely with the admiration and fulfilment that everyone in hall felt about the contestants and the pageant as a whole.

The newly crowned queen, Miss Olivia Lamota a 19yr old, is both talented and beautiful. She is a polyglot with expertise and fluency in four international languages. The first runner up, Miss Merry Joy Itambo is a breath of fresh air, a true beauty and a real gem while the second runner-up, Miss Vanessa Manuga is a remarkable young woman, she is immensely beautiful on the outside and in her heart; these qualities are all in addition to her lavish intelligence.

There was a bit of apprehension when it was initially learnt that Awilo Longomba, the supposed star performer of the night would be unavoidably absent. However, when the night drew to close and the fans have been thrilled to spectacular performances from brilliant artistes like Sema Tecino, P-Star, Knox, Crested, Fabu-D, Young Bros, Fefe and the one and one only DJ Prince, Mr. Longomba was hardly missed by anyone in the full and beaming heather suite.

The night was aptly summed up by one of the pageant sponsors, Ms Bola Akeredolu, in her words “Miss Congo Ireland of October 23 2009 will go down in pageant chronicles in the Republic of Ireland in particular as the day pageantry amongst immigrant community was properly defined and adequately presented”.
