Laila's actual name is Reshma Patel and her most famous movie is Wafa, in which she played a part of an unfaithful wife against Rajesh Khanna. The actress was much inspired by the then top actress Divya Bharti, who also died at a young age. Through her work at Bollywood, Laila was able to maintain the lifestyle of a starlet and in most ways she immitated Divya Bharti and ironically her death also mirrors foul play just like the former actress.
The two accused of the case Parvez Tak and Aasif Shaikh have been arrested and it is alleged that they are the main culprits behind the kidnapping of Laila, along with six other family members, including her mother Shelina Patel (50), elder sister Hazmina, twin siblings Zara and Imran, and a relative.
They were last seen on May 29, 2011 and Tak after questionning has admitted the fact that Laila married a close aide of Dawood Ibrahim. It was Laila's father Nadir Shah Patel, who raised alarm about his missing family and was instrumental in the arrest of Tak as well. Although, media is writing that Laila Khan was murdered, Deputy Inspector General (DIG), Doda-Ramban range, Gareeb Das is still waiting for the bodies so that they can have concrete proof.
