Missing scientist traced to Puducherry, alleges harassment at work
Babita Singh, a scientist at the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), who had been reported missing from her residence in Nerul, Mumbai since Monday has been found. She had contacted her brother on Thursday evening. Babita is a native of Uttar Pradesh.

Babita, 28, called up her brother, Vikas, after she saw reports of her being missing in newspapers. She also informed her brother Vikas Singh that she was safe and would return home on Friday evening.

"My sister said she was frustrated and left for Aurobindo Ashram in Puducherry to find peace. She called from someone's phone in the ashram after she learnt the news of her missing. One of our relatives has left for the ashram to be with her," Vikas said.

Vikas also said that Babita had left disappeared from BARC because of harassment at work.

"Once she is back, we want her to take a break from work and rest. She has been harassed a lot. We are relieved she is safe," Vikas added.

The Police have also said that they will record her statement once she returns.

Babita had left office early at around 1 pm and left the keys to her house with the landlord. Before leaving, she had also sent an email to her brother telling him about the harassment she has been facing since she joined BARC five years ago. She apologised for leaving her family and friends, and said that she preferred to die in one go rather than die every day. She later went to Aurobindo Ashram in Puducherry.

Babita's brother had gone to Mumbai from Uttar Pradesh after receiving the e-mail. Her family lodged a complaint with the Nerul police immediately after receiving the e-mail. But as the Nerul Police failed to trace her, they lodged a missing complaint.
