MLB Latest:Yankees to shop jayson Worth & Cliff Lee
Just as Chase Utley was prepared and ready to take over 2B when Polanco was traded, Domonic Brown - or at least a platoon of Brown/Francisco - would seem to be a plausible and productive RF replacement for Werth.
THE PHILLIES have been informed by the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays that they will be interested in Jayson Werth if he's put on the market this month. The Phillies haven't re-signed him yet and it doesn't appear the two sides are in the same zip code in terms of coming to an agreement on a new contract.

Werth will be a free agent this winter and Philadelphia is expected to shop him if they fall out of contention in the National League East.

He is making $7.5 million this year and is batting .277 with 13 homers and 48 RBIs.

Similarly when the Phillies dealt away Placido Polanco to address a need, adding reliever Ugueth Urbina five years ago, the Phils have a replacement ready if they deal with Werth.

Werth might leave the Phillies lineup too left-handed.

Brown wouldn't be hitting higher than 6th, so it's not like you're going to see a middle-of-the-order of Utley-Howard-Brown. Ryan Howard wasn't in the middle of the order when he was called up; so Dom Brown would be slotted 6th or 7th, most likely.

The Phillies do have right-handers. While none have 30-plus HR potential, they could all still be useful in breaking up the Howard-Utley and Ibanez-Brown in the left-handed-heavy order.

Here are some possible options if not Jayson Werth:-

Rollins (S), Polanco (R), Utley (h), Howard (h), Victorino (S), Ibanez (h), Brown (h), Ruiz (R), Pitcher, Rollins (S).
