Mobiles are here to stay, but shun mobile addiction
This is the lifeline of Gen Next kids. No matter what others may think, the young and old, all are fully occupied with mobile phones. Only a few or nobody knows or cares about the disadvantages of using mobiles.

ALL THANKS to modern technology for blessing us with the number of gadgets we use these days. I have seen many young men and women walk down parks and green lanes with earphones and portable music systems or cell phones. The children are no exception. Right from school to college, the children of today possess cell phones. The kids take mobile phones to school without permission. They would do anything to hide their new mobiles from their teachers.

In the modern day world, gadgets like mobile phones are our lifeline, but we have become obsessed with them. It is mere waste of time if you ask a college going boy or girl to switch off the mobile phone for the evening. They will surely pull their hair out if somebody tries to intrude upon their privacy.

This is the mind of Next Gen kids: “No life without mobile”. No matter what others think the young and the old all are fully occupied with mobile phones. Only a few or nobody knows or cares about the disadvantages of using mobiles. We think that mobile phones provide convenience and safety to those who use it, but check out the following drawbacks:

Never-ending interruptions

You are sitting in an official meeting and suddenly somebody’s phone starts ringing right into your ear. It can be terribly annoying and frustrating when such a thing happens. How do you react to such a situation? We don’t like anyone’s interference in our important task. Do you? Also the same can be said about ringing cell phones at movie theatres, family gatherings, and yes, even weddings. It can interrupt at the most inconvenient of times, under the most inopportune of circumstances. This is certainly a major problem with cell phones. It interrupts most important works and creates disturbance most of the times.

Wrong influence on personal contact

Nine out of ten people use mobiles for keeping in touch with friends and social networking with the boom of Internet. There is frequent exchange of messages and we have no time for family. Kids nowadays use mobiles even in bathrooms. Parents often complain of this obsession that their children sleep with the mobile and eat with mobiles. The mobiles are their best buddies. Playing games and listening to music gives pleasure and we relax with our mobiles too. It affects personal contact at business meetings, casual outings and other get-togethers.

Mobile driving

A number of accidents are occurring in all parts of the world due to mobile use at the wrong time. The people are obsessed with the machine in such a way that they don’t switch it off while driving. Receiving messages and replying en-route create diversion of mind. One needs to understand that driving with mobiles leads to accidents, so be vigilant and drive.

Health effects

Reports claimed through research that mobile phone causes tumors and other diseases like DNA damage, sleeplessness, eye cancer, infertility, cardiac problems and chronic fatigue. The evidence is still inconclusive but with ongoing exposure to mobiles and its usage the symptoms of such diseases and health problems are seen in most people.

Money consuming device

Countless new handsets are available and people are very enthusiastic to buy the latest mobile set. It is a money eating animal. We spend thousands to get a new I-Pod or Blackberry and craving doesn’t die here. We wait for other models to hit market to put our hands on. Upgrading the mobile becomes a necessity.

Hopefully, all these disadvantages have awakened you but still you and I cannot stop using the device as is necessary. It is a savvy machine and people are obsessed with it. We can at least try to reduce the use of mobiles to some extent so that we are not addicted. Mobiles are here to stay...but try not to become a mobile addict.
