Modi gives a clarion call to vote out Congress
The Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, who is being viewed as BJP's potential prime ministerial candidate in 2014 Lok Sabha polls against Congress' favourite Rahul Gandhi, has given a clarion call to vote out the Congress party from power.

Addressing the BJP’s national council meetings in New Delhi on Sunday last, he launched a direct attack at the Congress, saying the party has never tried to develop the nation. Stating that the nation is tired of Congress, he said that it is the time for the people to decide to vote Congress out of power.

Though he is yet to be officially declared as its Prime Ministerial candidate by the BJP, he has remained as the central figure of attraction in the three-day conclave at the national capital. Over 3,000 party key activists from all over the country conveyed their informal approval by clapping whenever his name was referred to by any speaker on any occasion.

He slammed Congress for spoiling country's image. “People can't even feel if there is a government at the Centre or not. It is not in the blood of the Congress to take the country forward,” Modi said. He also said that the country is sinking, the poor are under the burden of price rise, and “we cannot even feel if there is a government at the centre or not.”

He reminded that the Congress has ruled the country for several decades. At that time there was no opposition, the media was not so strong, there were not so many activists, “but what did they do”. He asked why India was lagging behind in the world at a time when many countries were trying to rise, despite having all opportunities.

Without naming any one, he launched a direct attack at the Nehru-Gandhi family. “Sacrificing the national interest for the interest of one family is the tradition of the Congress,” he said. He also heaped praise on President Pranab Mukherjee, and said he was sidelined so that the "family" is not affected. Had Pranab Mukherjee been the prime minister, there would have been less destruction in the country, he added.

Infusing confidence among BJP cadre, he said that the Congress has spread like termites in the country; it is very difficult to get rid of termites. Only one medicine would work, and that is the sweat of the worker of the BJP.

Considering current reforms and policies, he said UPA government is incapable of good governance. He said that voting Congress out of power is the most patriotic thing one can do.
