Modi government should formulate a strong policy on Kashmir before it's too late
On April 9, during bypolls in the Kashmir Valley, company commander of Rashtriya Rifles received an SOS message at Badgaon that 10 persons which included ballot officers; J&K police, CRPF and BSF personnel have been surrounded by more than 500 stone-pelters who are blood thirsty and are hell bent upon pelting stones and lynching this party.

He rushed with a Quick Reaction Team to the spot to save these people. The company commander too found himself surrounded by this mob of stone-pelters. He had only two options left. First, to start shooting and killing these ruffians and drive outwith his convoy of five vehicles through them. Second, to catch a stone-pelter from the mob, tie him in front of the vehicle, using him as a human shield and get his safe passage, Israel Army style.

He chose the second option and safely rescued all his men. Instead of giving an award to him for his quick thinking and initiative, Omar Abdullah posted this video on Facebook demanding an enquiry and Mehbooba Mufti, the CM of J&K has been baying for the blood of this Army officer. The J&K police has registered an FIR against this Army officer despite him having immunity under AFSPA because the Supreme Court judges sitting in their air conditioned chambers, having no knowledge of the hardships that the Army faces in J&K, have given this latitude to the J&K police.

On April 14, a convoy of BSF was passing through Batamaloo area of Uptown Srinagar. It came under heavy stone-pelting by the local crowd. This crowd not only pelted stones but some of them also tried to snatch weapons of BSF personnel. BSF fired in the air but it did not scare away the crowd. One stone-pelter by the name Sajad Hussain got killed in the clash. The crowd of stone-pelters later ran away. Now the J&K police has registered an FIR of murder against the BSF Sub Inspector Rajinder Baghdi.

On April 16, in the Kashmir Valley, stone-pelters threw petrol bombs on a convoy of CRPF vehicles. However, by the grace of God nobody was injured and only one vehicle was destroyed.

Recently, a video has gone viral on Facebook where CRPF jawans are seen being kicked and abused by a mob of stone-pelters and yet they were not retaliating. Their restraint was lauded by the Indian netas.

Enough of this nonsense! Modi government at the Centre and state government of J&K must explain, are the Indian troops meant to be kicked, abused and stone-pelted upon? Why are they carrying arms if they are not to be used? Are the judges of the apex court Gods that they are interfering in the legitimate duty of the Indian Army? When Army is protected under AFSPA then how come SC judges have authorised the J&K police to lodge FIRs against Army personnel?

Netas of Congress like Digvijay Singh are comparing the Army with the jehadis. The local netas of J&K are not saying anything against the stone-pelters but are targeting the Army because they find the Indian Army a soft target. The Modi government must realise that this stone-pelting will stop only when security forces start working on the principal of `ek goli ek dushman'.

The stone-pelters are being instigated by the separatists who are on Pakistan's payroll. The need of the hour is to remove all protection provided to separatists and let these stone-pelters protect them. Impose Governor's rule in J&K and put an ex-Army General as the Governor in the state, just like late Indira Gandhi had done. And within one month, all will be calm in the Kashmir Valley.
